PEAT, a part of the United States Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy, promotes the employment, retention and career advancement of people with disabilities.

CIO Council updates FAQ on Section 508 Reporting to OMB

The CIO Council Accessibility Community of Practice has updated the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on Agency Section 508 reporting to OMB. [docx] OMB Section 508 reporting is required for all CFO Act agencies and recommended for all federal agencies. The next reports are due August 30, 2015. What do Federal Government Executives need to know about Section 508?

  1. Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act is a Federal procurement law that requires any EIT products or services that are "developed, procured, maintained, or used" by the Federal Government be accessible to persons with disabilities. It is more than just a procurement law.
